Just a personal project of mine, exploring and rendering the rare and the cool, McLaren F1. It's a car I've admired since childhood, partly fuelled by countless hours driving it in racing video games.
This legendary car was designed by Gordon Murray, first hit the roads in the early 1990s. It's famous for many things, including its powerful V12 engine, which was specially built by BMW and sounds incredible.
One of the most unique features is the seating: the driver sits right in the middle of the car, with a passenger seat slightly behind on each side. The F1 was all about pure driving – it didn't have electronic helpers like ABS brakes, traction control, or stability control that most modern cars have. Even the wheels were special, made from lightweight magnesium to improve performance.
Decades later, Gordon Murray designed the T.50, a modern supercar directly inspired by the principles of the McLaren F1, often called its spiritual successor. It shows just how influential the original F1 design was and continues to be.
